There are two support levels recognized by Microsoft – Mainstream Support and Extended Support. Mainstream Support in the Microsoft Product Lifecycle lasts for 5 years from the version release date; Extended Support is 10 years. If your company is using the built-in Payroll functionality, the end of Mainstream Support is critical, as the tax table updates for that version also end at that time.
