A wave of new features for Business Central aimed at improving your experience and the system’s performance was officially launched by Microsoft in early October 2023.

Many organizations are using Dynamics 365 Business Central as their ERP system or they are considering Business Central as a part of their long-term planning.

If your business runs on Business Central or if you are curious if Business Central is right for you, here’s Joesoftware’s summary of the latest updates and upgrades.

Improved user experience

Dynamics 365 Business Central has always been known for delivering a user-friendly experience, customized to your needs. The latest enhancements improve how you and your team experience Business Central, and help your organization enter, update, and fix mistakes in your data. You can also optimize pages by adding existing table fields, customize how fields can be edited, and complete data searches across your entire Business Central ecosystem.

Adapt faster with Power Platform

These latest developments embed Power Apps within Business Central. The user experience within Power Automate approval workflows has been improved, and the Power BI experience has been further refined. The limits for triggering flows have been modified, the ability to create flows that span multiple companies has been added, and there is an improved flow creation process from templates. As well, virtual tables have been enabled to eliminate data entry duplication and provide greater control.

Improved warehousing features

These new updates improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your warehouse operations. Your business can access real-time information about warehouse quantities, inventory availability, locations within the warehouse, handling and processing, and more.

Intercompany efficiencies

It’s now easier to consolidate financial data across multiple business units, legal entities, and subsidiaries that use different Business Central environments. Your intercompany workflows can also include approvals.

Enhanced reporting and data analysis

You can access improved reporting and an improved dashboard system, making it easier to find and run the reports you need. The improved reporting in Power BI and analysis mode capabilities means your business can complete data analysis in Business Central without having to switch to external applications, like Excel.

Innovations in Copilot and AI

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Copilot harnesses the power of AI for small and medium-sized businesses. Copilot is integrated into Business Central, giving your employees user-friendly AI tools. You can use Copilot’s AI-powered transaction matching to reduce the effort of handling unmatched transactions, and marketing text suggestions are now widely available.

Enhanced service and platform

Microsoft continues to invest in service fundamentals, aiming to improve performance, stability, security and compliance. Many performance optimizations and enhancements have been included in this wave of updates to create a better Business Central experience.
